Mid-Week Music #36 - Rise and Shine
What a change of pace, huh?
Well, this week has been the week of our church’s
VBS (or Vacation Bible School). In fact, tomorrow is the last day. It would
have likely gone to Friday, but there’s another event going on that day. Funny,
though, how the last day of VBS is also the first day of summer. (Hopefully, I’ll see you there).
I’ve been helping out a bit, mainly by corralli—I mean,
leading the preschool group. And we’ve
been doing all kinds of things: Bible stories, games, crafts, and of course
singing. The different groups have been learning a few songs. This week’s MWM
is one of them.
Now, there are some different versions of these
lyrics somewhere, I’m sure. This is only one of them. But after hearing all of my sisters singing it,
repeatedly, over the past few days, I’m pretty sure I’ve got it down. It may be
a simple, silly song, but it is still to the glory of God in its own little
way.
So, in honour of Vacation Bible School, and to the glory of God, here is “Rise
and Shine”!

(chorus)
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine and
Give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord
The Lord said to Noah
There’s gonna be a flood-y, flood-y
Lord said to Noah
There’s gonna be a flood-y, flood-y
Get those animals out of the muddy, muddy
Children of the Lord
The Lord said to Noah
To build him an ark-y, ark-y
Lord said to Noah
To build him an ark-y, ark-y
Build it out of gopher bark-y, bark-y
Children of the Lord
The animals, they came in
They came in by twosies, twosies
Animals, they came in
They came in by twosies, twosies
Elephants and kangaroosies-roosies
Children of the Lord
(chorus)
It rained and poured
For forty daysies, daysies
Rained and poured
For forty daysies, daysies
Nearly drove those animals crazies, crazies
Children of the Lord
Then Noah, he sent out
He sent out a dovey, dovey
Noah, he sent out
He sent out a dovey, dovey
Dovey said there’s blue skies above-y, bove-y
Children of the Lord
Now, this is the end of
The end of the story, story
This is the end of
The end of the story, story
Everything is honky-dory, dory
Children of the Lord
(chorus)
So rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine
And give God the glory, glory
Rise and shine and
Give God the glory, glory
Children of the Lord
